Literacy Tip
My name is Cindy, and I want to share a song with you that is very calming. This song helps kids settle when they’ve been active and gotten a little hyped up. It’s got a nice rhythm and by singing it more slowly and quietly with each repetition you can focus more and more on the rhyming sounds in the words. We’re working on hearing the sounds which is an important skill for early talkers to gain in order to be successful readers when they get to school.
Transcript
(Pretend to cuddle a kitty cat in your arm and stroke her as you say,)
Soft kitty, warm kitty,
Little ball of fur.
Happy kitty, sleepy kitty,
purr purr purr.
(Sing two times, getting quieter the second time around)
